The rain has just been coming and coming and coming, so we have been overrun with tiny frogs! A few days ago we found four of the little guys in our kiddie pool, one of which Lincoln proudly holds here. They are too small for my camera to take good pictures of, believe me I have plenty of blurry little frog pictures! We are having a great time watching all of the frogs though and Jackson is on a constant search for the next "hop hop." I am really enjoying watching the bugs and frogs and things just as much as the boys do. There are about a million butterflies out in the grasses and I love to just sit and watch them flutter from flower to flower. In my old environment, I would have considered that stuff "weeds," but here it is a place for the wildlife to flourish.
Lincoln found a "crab" the other day, I knew right away of course that we don't have crabs in Oklahoma... so it was simple to figure out from his description that it was a scorpion. We had a little lesson about scorpions and how we don't get to take them home with us. I made them leave the area, but he kept wanting to go back and catch it. Eeek!
We spent a little time at a local berry farm this morning picking ripe blackberries with our cousins Sarah and Bobo. It was a perfect morning for it, cloudy and cool and the bushes were completely full of fresh, ripe berries. The kids had a great time. I ended up with purple sleeves as Jackson couldn't get enough berries to test taste. I called out to Lincoln once to check on him and he replied, "mom, I'm doing great." He kept telling us about the "juicy" one he'd just found. We had a really exciting day yesterday as well... Jeff's brother Spencer came home from his mission. I've never seen such a to-do at the airport. Gail made all kinds of posters and hung them from pool noodles with pinwheels on them. She bought the kids noise makers and even rolled out a "red carpet." We got a lot of crazy stares! It was a lot of fun and we are all so glad to have him home. What a welcome!
