Harrison Feeling Yucky

On our way back from Branson we were really surprised that Harrison wasn't falling asleep in the car.  He kept asking to get out and pushing on his seatbelt to get it away from his body.  We didn't really realize anything was wrong until the next day.  He had a mild fever and was complaining that his tummy hurt.  We haven't ever seen him so sad and his poor little eyes were just pleading with us, "Make it better!"

Jeff took him to the urgent care and they sent him home with a prescription for antibiotics and the idea that it might be pneumonia - just watch him and see.  By the morning we wanted to know for sure, so we took him back in first thing and he had an x-ray confirming that suspicion.

He started his meds and had a rough few days.  He seemed to be getting better though, so I thought we were on the mend, but today he started hurting all over again and I ran him back to the doctor.  They took more x-rays and he is actually worse than before, so he is on a second round of antibiotics, plus oral steroid and nebulizer treatments - all twice a day for 10 days.  Poor little monkey.

In the meantime he has had some cheerful moments that have really made me laugh:
I took him to the park where someone had left a plastic shovel behind.  I let him keep it and he thought it was the best thing ever.  He admired his new shovel in the car all the way to pick up the big kids from camp. When we got there we parked next to a beautiful motorcycle (um, I don't say beautiful motorcycle - but it was).  He looked at that motorcycle and he looked at his shovel and said, "mom - trade shovel, motorcycle" I had a good laugh at that and the owner actually overheard our conversation and laughed along with me.

Tonight as we left the urgent care I told him we were going to Wal-mart to get his medicine.  This kid LOVES Target and asks to go there all of the time.  I told him that Target was closed, so we had to go to Wal-mart.  He said, "no - wal-mart closed, go Target" repeatedly as we drove, arrived and walked around Wal-mart.  Such a funny boy.

He makes friends all over the place - the man in the deli gave him a slice of ham and the pharmacist was very entertained by the way he kept wanting to hand her the cheese.  I'm blessed with a real sweetheart of a boy! (three of them really, plus Jeff too)
