More Downs than Ups

It has been a week of sickness around here. We keep thinking things are getting better, but Jackson keeps going back downhill. We finally got him some anti-biotics today so that he can return to happiness full time. I had a yucky bug for two days this week too, so we've definitely struggled. I'm just hoping to get a full night's sleep one day before I'm 40-!

Last night Jeff took Linoln on the father/sons campout. None of us got much sleep! They had a great time though, especially on the zip line at the ropes course.

This picture doesn't really apply, but is cute anyway!

I can make ANYTHING into a sport

We recently borrowed a Wii for a few weeks. This introduced Lincoln to the idea of several sports... namely golf, bowling, and baseball. Now whatever we are doing and whatever we are playing with suddenly becomes one or more of these sports. It can also change mid-game, so you have to keep focus. This is him first thing this morning. He stepped just outside the back door and started setting up his "pins" so that he can get a strike by using a basketball or a huge four-square type ball. We can also be found using just about anything as a bat and ball. Inside the house we use stuffed animals for a ball. If you can hit it, you get to run around the circle of the kitchen and living room as many "runs" as you think that hit deserves.

Now in case you are wondering if performing these sports is enough to minimize the loss of giving up the Wii... He is saving every penny so that he can buy one. He brought dad two pennies to wake him up one morning declaring, "I think I have enough to buy a Wii now!" Keep on saving little buddy.

My Robin Again

I know I just recently posted about my Robin, but I had to do it again because she is bringing me so much joy! Every time we sit at the table I am thrilled that she is there. Today at lunch we saw another robin come and feed her. When she is hungry she opens her mouth just like you see baby birds do for their mother. This other bird, I'm assuming it's daddy robin, takes care of her. When she is frightened by our presence (like when I've tried to take pictures from outside) she chirps and calls him and he comes quickly to her aid. He brings her food so she doesn't have to leave the nest. She never strays far from it. It is SO sweet.

Like Uncle, Like Nephew?

We love having John close to us again! The kids love playing sports with him while I try to get some work done during the day. Last week when he arrived Lincoln and I were doing a search and find puzzle. Lincoln was concerned when John sat at the top of the puzzle and told him everything would look upside down. John shrugged it off explaining, "it's ok... I've got a pretty powerful brain."

After I got up to go and work Lincoln came over to the other side of the puzzle and snuggled up to John. He said softly to him, "my brain is powerful too."

When it was time for him to go that day, Lincoln was very upset. He tried to run in front of him and get in his way so that he couldn't go. When that didn't work he snuck into his car and kept him from getting in the driver's side. John got in the passenger side and I pulled Lincoln aside. When he finally drove off Lincoln sprinted after him, barefoot and everything. John said he was really feeling the love then and almost turned around.

Uncle John definitely has fans around here!
