Understanding the Divine

The boys have had a lot of questions lately and are trying to understand the way things work with Heavenly Father. During prayer one night Jeff was teaching Lincoln that Heavenly Father can hear you when you pray... if you are reverent. Lincoln asked if He has super-hearing. Hmmm, sort of like that. "Will he hear an elephant?" "Yes, He hears everyone." "Well, what if the elephant is kicking?" "Yes, He will hear him." Jackson chimed in, "what if elephant is kicking AND spitting?" "Well, we have to be reverent and kind for Heavenly Father to listen to our prayers."

This has had them thinking all week and it has come up a few times in other conversation....

"Jackson, can you help me sweep up all of these leaves please?" "Maybe Jesus will do it."

Lincoln let us know that he thinks Heavenly Father can "change into the same color as other stuff." "you mean like camouflage?" "Yeah, I think He is camouflaged." Jackson added, of course, that he probably has a 'glide suit' too. These guys have learned too much about super hero abilities!

New Math and other Jackson stories

Lincoln has been deciding how many hugs we each get at the end of the day. He counts off 3-10 hugs depending on how he is feeling. Today Jackson decided to join in on the endless hugs, but wanted to give 'leg hugs.' He put his legs around my neck and started to count.

He stopped paying attention to what he was saying and his counting went like this:

One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Fork (I giggle, so he runs with it)
Diaper
Hallway
Light

He is in his grumpy threes, so I am enjoying the giant grins and fun moments as much as possible! His favorite things to do right now are: Playing pretend with Lincoln, watching Word World, eating apples and oranges, and riding his big boy bike with his helmet.

Some of the funny things he is saying right now are: "What's my favorite show mom? - Oh yeah, 101 doggy puppies."; Mom, how many am I? (since his birthday he can't seem to remember how old he is - he keeps asking if he's still two); I want 'sagna (lasagna) for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. When told we were going to have lunch with Granny said, "oh good! does she have 'sagna?" We test drove a minivan on Saturday and he was so confused when the guy got in the van with us. He thought we were just going to pop right in there and take it home... he asked if the guy was going to go home with us.

Another funny Jackson story... At the elementary school talent show we ran into our neighbors. We were just hanging out waiting for it to begin and Jackson decided to tickle the neighbor dad. They were having fun with that and then he turned to me and said, "mom, you tickle him!" We got a big laugh out of that - I told him I didn't think that would be a very good idea.

Sacrament quotes

The past few weeks Lincoln has had some funny things to say during the sacrament.

We got quite a few looks and a lot of giggles a few weeks ago when Lincoln took a look at his little cup of water and said loudly, "I'm WAY thirstier than that!"

Today he had a piece of gum in his mouth (I was bribing him to sit still so that I could take the above picture before church - since they BOTH let me put ties on - I knew that wouldn't last!). I told him to keep the gum in one side of his mouth and chew the bread on the other side or to take the gum out. He was concentrating really hard and then said, "it didn't work, but it made the bread double-YUM!"

Compliment?

Is it a compliment if your husband says, "I have to admit I was thinking of you during Sunday School when they read that scripture about 'haughtiness.'?

*************

ok - a lot of people are not getting this. He truly was trying to give me a compliment by changing the term to hottie-ness. Just wanted to clarify.
