I didn't get into DC until 1am Friday morning, so Marna and I couldn't hold off on our girly chat until morning. We stayed up way too late gabbing and laughing and crying and having thoroghly therapeutic girl time. We made ourselves go to sleep around 3. I am terrible at sleeping in, so we were up and going again at a reasonable hour and we headed off to go sailing on the Chesapeake with Steve. Our first leg of the trip lasted about 5 seconds. We quickly docked and had lunch across the harbor and they treated me to a MOST delicious crab cake sandwich, with zuchini and squash on the side. YUM. Marna didn't think zuchini and squash sounded too yummy, but changed her mind once she braved a first bite.
The first thing Steve pointed out to me before we ever got onto the boat was that there was a giant piece attached to the bottom of the boat that was very heavy and solid. I wasn't sure why I would need to know that at first, but found it gave me a lot of comfort as we started to set sail. The boat tends to lean. A lot. It gave me comfort to see how the two of them were not in the least bit worried as we tilted toward their side of the boat. It also helped to know about the big thing under the boat, whatever it is called.
Sailing was so relaxing and I thoroughly enjoyed the company I kept. It was so fun to see Marna and Steve in their element (I had only ever met him when he visited here for Christmas). I wish we all lived closer so that we could play together more often.

They had a good system worked out for making everything go smoothly and I wished I could have been more helpful, but they made it all seem super easy.
