Hanging out with Uncle John

It was so great to have uncle John home from Germany. He called us one morning and said he was going to Stillwater to register for some classes and buy some books and asked if we wanted to come along. Why not? We hopped in the van with him and spent some time on campus at OSU. They have a nice little pond area there that the boys really enjoyed. Unfortunately when we switched cars I forgot to grab both of their shoes so we had to carry them everywhere because it was such a hot day that the pavement burned their little toes. It was nice to see where he goes to school and think about the good ole' college days again. Mostly, it was nice to have some time to just hang out and be together. I hope he decides to live close again someday.

The night before he left he was teaching Lincoln how to fish at mom and dad's place and I had a chance to do a little fishing too. I hadn't done it in so long... I had no interest really, but it actually felt kind of good to do it. I'm not sure why, but I liked it. Lincoln ended up catching a big catfish and I was trying to help him reel it in (mostly so that John didn't lose his rod into the lake), but it swam under the dock and pulled the hook right off of the line. Have to admit I was glad about that. It might have been fun for Lincoln to see the fish he'd caught, but I didn't really care to touch it!
