My Mini Men

Lincoln started the day off right with a classic quote:

"I'm never going to kindergarten again.... until I'm resurrected."

I wanted to start the summer off right too. I planned to jump right in and take them to the zoo, but things don't always work out like you plan them! Lincoln wasn't feeling quite right and Harrison was a little cranky. I thought we'd wait out the morning and see if things got any better. Lincoln has been complaining of headaches on and off for a while now. Today was at least the third time that he has had a severe headache and then vomited. Each time he has felt much better and gotten back to himself afterward and then it will be about a week before it happens again. Several times he has begged me to take him to the doctor. Today I agreed to it... I don't like the pattern.

While we were waiting for the doctor in the exam room we had a nice long game of I Spy. He was feeling better and we were having a great time together. I "spied" several things that were "light" blue or "dark" green. He caught onto that and spied something "hard" brown. "Hard brown?" - "Yeah, it's hard to tell that it's brown."

The doctor was concerned with the symptoms as well and is scheduling him a ct scan. I'll keep everyone informed if there is anything to know. This poor kid has been through so many tests! I feel sad for him.

Jackson is struggling with being in the middle. Lincoln and Harrison need so much attention that he just pleads for me to play with him too. He is so much easier than they are, so he has had to make himself known... I DEMAND ATTENTION TOO!!! I am working hard at giving him some extra special moments. We built a special lego space ship together yesterday, jumped on the trampoline together (I even do flips with him!), and today we took a bike ride all the way to 7-11 (not quite a mile).

Jackson's quote of the day happened as we were taking requests for dinner. The place we planned to go was closed for the holiday weekend. He suggested KFC or Chik-Fil-A. We told him that we didn't want any fast food. He thought about it for a minute and said, "Well, there's a Sonic that is really slow." [which is totally true - I've had to drive off from there twice - haven't been back since]

Harrison is getting so much personality and setting himself apart from the other boys - while definitely still fitting in as a Poyner boy. He only likes to sleep in his crib (the first two were great car seat sleepers). He thinks raspberries are hilarious and is blowing some super slobber bubbles. Right now his favorite chew toys are his toes. When I got him out of his crib this morning his pajama feet were all wet. I was looking everywhere for a leak and realized he'd just been chewing on his feet through the pajamas! He has a smile the melts the soul.

Cabinets!

It's been a long time coming - little did I know when I pulled all of the cabinet doors down over a year ago that they would remain down while I grew a baby in my tummy! There are a couple of doors still to be hung (the ones where refrigerator moving is required) and I'll do some touch up paint here and there, but I'm SO excited to consider this project nearly complete. I'm including a before photo and a happy Harrison. The kitchen is so much brighter now - and much less cluttered with all of our stuff behind doors.

Baby Paparazzi

Today was the last day of Jackson's MDO program and I just had to record the moments that have transpired every time I go to pick up and drop off. The little girls started the oohing and aahing over the baby, but pretty soon the whole class took a liking to our little guy (who wouldn't?) and swarmed his carrier every time we showed up. Jackson loves showing off his baby brother. We will miss his sweet teachers and hope to have some of the same kids in his summer class... his last before starting in pre-k in the fall.

Boy Stuff

Lincoln:
When I grow up I want to be an artist. I want to make paintings and sell them to people. If I love them though, I will give them to them for free.

Mom, if you and dad go on a mission can I spend the night at Granny and Papa's? (no idea where that came from)

Jackson:
(after teaching him about wedding rings) Mom, I want to give you a ring too... and Lincoln should give you one. You'll have four rings because you have four boys that love you.

Harrison, you look as handsome as me!

I've been really impressed with the artwork that these two are producing lately. Lincoln is getting so detailed in his drawings. He has always had a story to tell, but now he is really able to bring it to life... where we can actually see what he is trying to portray. Jackson has been working hard at writing his letters and I've seen huge improvements from him.
