Soccer

It was cold. It was super Oklahoma windy. It was brand newbies against an experienced crew. It was probably 7,428 - 0. It was... Lincoln's first soccer game today.

He may not have loved every minute of it, but I had a good time if that counts for anything.

Working Out

I've had a love/hate relationship with the gym for year's now. I love to go, but I hate to get there. I love to eat, but I hate what that does to my body. I love that I have membership to the gym, but I hate that I've paid for something that I don't always use. I especially had that problem in Texas where Lincoln would fuss about going to the babysitting. Jackson actually loves the babysitting and now that Harrison is three months old I have no more excuses and I'm getting back in the swing of things.

When I was a teenager I took aerobics classes with my mom. We had such a fun time together and I loved the esteem booster that it was to be young and bouncy and coordinated with all of these older ladies dancing beside me. Now I guess I'm the older, uncoordinated - still bouncy (but definitely not in the same way) lady. I've been going to Zumba and today I tried kick boxing. I had been going to the gym, but not to the classes and I'm definitely going to keep going to the classes. It is so much better for me. I'm totally behind on my dance moves, but I'm hoping to catch up and lose some tummy in the process... maybe I can get the bounce back in my feet rather than my gut!

Left Behind

Church was very small today. There was still snow and ice on the ground and it is spring break weekend and there simply weren't many people there. As we went to drop the kids off in primary we were both asked to help. Jeff had already set our stuff up in Sunday School (including the baby) and assumed that I went in. He was asked to help in the nursery. I was asked to help in the primary playing the piano. Both of us thought that the other one had Harrison. OOPS! We didn't realize until after we were home and talking about our days that we had left the baby in the care of the Sunday School class. We are grateful to whoever took care of him and that we have him safely back!

First Day of Spring

The first day of spring (officially) turned out to be the last of winter (I hope!). After a day warm enough to let the kids play in the creek we had another snow day. At least we were able to build a snowman this year after all! We missed most of the fun snow activities while we were welcoming a new baby. During our second snowstorm we got some great sledding time in. Luckily we got a third chance so that the kids could build their first snowman!

Spring Break Camping

The Poyner clan gathered at Red Rock Canyon on Thursday night for a campout. Most of Jeff's family was there (we missed you Joe, Les and Andy and crew). We started the evening off with delicious fajitas and a silly string fight. Granny armed each of the grandkids with a can and let them go after each other. This was a new treat for my guys and they weren't quite sure what to think at first. By the time they caught on most of the rest of the silly string was done!




We had lots of wrapped up babies... well, it seemed so! We actually had two babies and two puppies. Our most newly married couples both had new puppies. I guess they watched all of the rest of us have kids and decided to practice first with dogs.

The men of the group were very good to us ladies and cooked and served to us - especially at breakfast when it was too cold to step away from the fire!

We all enjoyed hiking around the campground and the kids even jumped in the creek (brr!). The afternoons were beautiful and we had intended to stay one more night, but the weatherman suggested we head on home. Boy am I glad we did... see the next post!
