The second group of Poyner's was about 45 minutes behind us on the freeway, so we were grateful for company at Braum's. They took us over to Jeff at the shop and we rented a van to make it the rest of the way to Grapevine.
The hotel was wonderful and the kids had an amazing time. It was the first time that I can remember that my kids didn't ask me to go with them on any slides. I had to ask them if I could come. They were more excited about hanging out with their cousins and I was "allowed" to tag along if I could keep up. They are growing up - bittersweet! Harrison and I had a fun time playing together in the kiddie area. We thought that the lazy river was too slow and headed to the wave pool. I found it very enjoyable and relaxing, but Harrison said, "I not have time for this."
Jeff warned me not to let the kids convince me to go on two of the waterslides. Those are the two Lincoln wanted me to ride with him. It was a little crazy, but super fun too. The second day Jackson stayed at the waterpark with his cousins. Lincoln and Harrison had fun doing the wand activity in the morning and then we headed back early to get some work done.
Jeff had a meeting in Oklahoma City at 2:30, so we planned to leave in time to get back to the house, change clothes and make it downtown. Unfortunately, he couldn't find his iPad and we spent about an hour looking for it. I watched in awe as he got everything to work out so that he could make this important meeting happen. I offered suggestions like, "call and let them know you'll be a half an hour late" or "just wear what you are wearing." These wouldn't do. He called the shop that fixed our car and offered them some extra cash to bring the van to the rental car shop. That saved a lot of time! Then, he got his sister to drive out to our house during her lunch break and he walked her through the house picking out his clothes. She happens to work in the same building downtown where his meeting was, so she scheduled a conference room for him and left the clothes in there for him to change. We arrived at 2:10! And that's why he has that job and I don't. :)
