July 5th - a super special day!

We were so surprised when we got a phone call early the next morning after we had all enjoyed backyard fireworks out at the Poyner household. Kim had her sweet baby girl nearly a month early! We had just been with her the night before and she told us she thought she would come sooner, but holy cow... we didn't expect that to be just a few short hours later. We are so excited to meet baby Natalie. The Woodhouse kids spent the night with us Sunday night and hung out with us all day yesterday. What a treat! The kids had a great time and then moved over to Granny's last night. It was funny to hear how excited they were to visit and sleep over with so many family members. Mom's time in the hospital means a party for them!

Natalie is a tiny little thing at only 6 lbs (?oz - missed that info) and so beautiful. She and mom are doing great.

4th Parade

Our neighborhood hosts a parade each year from our end over to the pool where we have a big barbecue and lots of poolside fun for the day. I was a little skeptical about Jackson riding his bike the whole way, but he wanted to try so we headed out. Lincoln followed right behind the firetruck and was off with the herd of bicycles. The swim team rode in a pick-up behind the bikes and threw candy. This was enough to distract Jackson from pedaling completely. I promised him I'd pick up the candy for him if he would keep pedaling, but he couldn't bear it! I ended up carrying the bike while he walked and picked up candy. Thank goodness for another straggler boy whose grandpa picked us up in the back of his truck and snuck us up to the pool. The rest of the crowd was long gone and already started on lunch!
