Leonardo's and Bulgogi

A whole museum and play place named after Leonardo da Vinci?  I'm in!  This is probably the coolest playground I've ever visited.  Mom and I even ventured all through it to see what we could find and we were not disappointed!  The day was nice and cool because of the rain and there weren't too many people there either.  This place had everything!  Sand pits, water play, tire swings, shady areas, and climbing galore!

One of our favorite parts was this swing where two swings were connected.

Inside the museum there was more fun to be had.  It was a miniature science museum with plenty to do and see.  We spent several hours here until we got hungry.  We met a local LDS lady there (the BYU sticker on her car in the parking lot gave her away) and she recommended a few local restaurants.  We were excited to hear that one of them was Korean.  All of us loved the Korean food, but we were especially surprised when the kids begged us to come back soon.  After we ate everyone came back to our house for a swim.  What a fun and memorable day!

Great Salt Plains

Yesterday we ventured out to the Great Salt Plains in northwestern Oklahoma.  We loaded up a full van with Sarah, Jeffrey, my mom and our crew.  The drive out there took longer than expected, so everyone was hungry when we got there.  I was grateful that it was overcast and not hot at all.  What a blessing in July!

 

  Aimee was on super mom duty with two littles and a baby and she met us there.  She is a super mom!  Look at her digging for crystals with her kids while holding a baby!  I had no intention of getting all muddy as there is no where to clean off, so I took the baby and played historian.

My mom wasn't afraid to get dirty either!  She dug right in.

Hunter had the best time.  He was pretending to be a hippo.  It looked more like he was having a spa day than digging for salt crystals!

I started to feel a rain drop or two (though there was no rain in the forecast) about this time, so I went to put the camera and the baby in the car just in case it rained any more.  And boy did it!  Just as I got Audrey strapped into her car seat it started pouring down with a fierce wind. The wind blew the salt and rocks at us and it felt like hail. Everyone was running to get in the car, but they were all muddy and nasty.  Harrison had braved getting a little muddy, but he doesn't like to be dirty, so he was really upset and begging for me to get him clean.  He was also really afraid that he would blow away.  We scurried to get everyone as clean a possible and into the car as quickly as possible.  A very intense few minutes!  

We were worried about the road into the digging area.  It has rained so much lately that it was already in pretty bad shape and getting in had been an adventure.  Now that it was raining all of the holes were filled with water and you couldn't tell where they were.  Jeff maneuvered it well and we made it just fine.  Our day had been cut short very quickly and intensely.  As we drove away we tried to think of something else to do in the area in our messy state.  Mom remembered a really cool place in Enid she had taken our older boys a few years ago, so we headed there next.
