This morning we took the boys and grandma and had our big ultrasound. I thought the kids would like seeing the baby move around on the screen better than just seeing the pictures I would bring home. They were very well behaved, though not terribly interested in watching. The first thing we saw was the skeletal face and we talked about how the baby looks sort of like a skeleton. I didn't realize until later this afternoon that Jackson thought the baby would look like a skeleton when it was born. He told me he was worried about that skeleton baby. I guess that would be a creepy thing to have around the house!
He (a very clear picture indeed) was sucking his thumb during the ultrasound. We've never had a thumb sucker! It was sweet to watch the little sucking motion and see his little hand up by his face. Everything else looked as it should so we are excited. Now we just have to come up with a name.... no need to go out and buy girly things!

Camping
I was going to wait to write about camping until I had a chance to get a few pictures from my in-laws... but I can't wait anymore! Last week, right before heading down to Austin for the wedding, we went to Lake Murray with Jeff's parents. They took the kids a day early... leaving me completely and utterly alone for a glorious day of shopping. In the meantime they played minigolf, swam in the lake, played tag with Papa and Granny at the park and used their new water squirters to their hearts delight.
We planned to join the kids Tuesday morning, but Jeff got really anxious and loaded us up at 9 o'clock at night to head down to the lake... and the boys whom he missed so much. I admittedly could have waited and been just fine. In the rush out the door I forgot my last minute items - my camera and my phone charger. Bummer.
The next morning we had the first of a thereafter daily delicious breakfast at the lodge. We talked about some of the things there were to do and I thought the boys would like to ride the horses. They didn't. I feel bad about this as Granny and Papa had to ride with them for the hour and it wasn't anyone's idea of a great time. Later we headed to the lake ("the beach") for a lovely swim and everyone had a much better time. Each evening we repeated the pattern of playing tag at the park with Papa. On Wednesday Jeff and his parents rented ATV's and had a great time riding and splashing in the mud.
The kids and I had our own adventure at Arbuckle Wilderness, a drive through safari type zoo where the animals come right up to your car and you feed them out of the window. Our most exciting moments were with the camels. The first one we met stole Lincoln's entire cup right from his hand. I thought it was able to do that because he was a child, but I watched that camel do the same thing to grown women who were definitely fighting to keep their cup! This discourage us from holding the whole cup out to the animals, so we were just throwing handfuls onto the ground. The next camel that Lincoln met assumed he had feed in his hand and put his mouth over Lincoln's entire hand! EWWWW. He just looked at me, showing me the thick slime that was covering his poor little and said, "now I smell like camel." He was so brave! We did keep our windows closed a lot more often at that point. Lincoln suggested we only feed the small animals from now on and Jackson moved to the back of the van to make sure "no one following us."
That afternoon the kids went down with Granny to float a little remote controlled boat and ended up swimming in the lake again and going down these big slides with a huge drop off at the bottom. The grandparents didn't think the kids would like that, but boy did they! A storm blew in very quickly and we headed back to the cabin. We spent the evening relaxing and enjoying the cooler weather. There was a sparkler incident... Jackson will never look at play-doh the same way again.
Thanks Granny and Papa for a super fun time at the lake!
