Individual Time

The day before school started I had a nice opportunity spend some one on one time with each of the boys.  Harrison had his yearly x-ray that morning.  His insides are looking great so we are cleared for another year!  He actually loves going to the Children's hospital.  They really treat the kids wonderfully there.  He got to color while he waited and he said really loudly, "coloring is lame - but it's better than doing nothing.  I mean I could sit here and do nothing, but even coloring is better than that."  You could hear snickers all through the waiting room.

He loves to check out all of the cool things around the building and they had someone waiting to greet kids at the front door.  He told him he had a nice costume and they gave him a coloring book all about the hospital.  I felt blessed to be there for such a simple thing and said a little prayer in my heart for all of those who were there with more difficult situations.

After lunch I took Lincoln up to his new school to walk through and find all of his classrooms.  He was really worried about moving up to middle school and we had a really nice day in an empty school figuring everything out.  He was also able to meet a lot of his teachers.

In the afternoon I took Jackson to his guitar lessons and we learned how to restring his guitar.  Another fun experience.  This made me want to take more opportunities to spend individual time with each of them outside of the house.  Our usual one on one time is in the evenings at bedtime, but that is often rushed.  Something to work on!

(p.s.  My blog is going to be out of order - I still haven't taken time to write about our fun trip to Texas because I've been busy planning and getting ready for my next fun trip to Europe - leaving tomorrow!!!)
