Oh, Just Say It Already

I've been postponing writing about the big change that is about to take place. I've been waiting until it's "official." It is taking an eternity to be official; I'm not patient enough and I've been perfectly open about it everywhere but here. We're moving to Milwaukee.

Jeff has been talking about working his way into a certain job at Dell for some time now. He found what we hope will be his "dream" job. He spent the day with someone in Dallas who has the same job to see if it was really what he would like to do. I've never seen him so excited. He made a bazillion phone calls and we talked about how far we were willing to move if the opportunity became available. His new boss just happens to be his former boss. They already know and respect one another and I believe they are excited to work together once again. He let him know, in a joking way, that he was a shoe-in if he wanted to move to Wisconsin. We talked about it, and talked about it some more. He called more people.

We decided to officially apply and now we are packing boxes. I have lots of mixed emotions about the whole thing. I'm excited for a new adventure. I'm sad to leave family behind. It is happening so quickly and it is such a busy time. I hired a teenager to come and help me with the boys while I work, pack, search for houses etc., so that helps a lot.

We have lots of things pending on getting our actual offer and knowing what our relocation package involves. We would like to get up there and see a house in person rather than just choosing something we find on the internet (though you sure can do a lot more from long distance than you could just a few short years ago - google earth has been amazing!). We were told the offer would be here last week, then this week... still not here. AAAH!

I will be able to continue with my menu making as most of what I do is digital or over the phone anyway. I'm very pleased about that. Also, Jeff's new job - which is outside sales - will have him working from home one or two days a week and travelling to customer sites the other days. I'm excited to share an office with him at home.

The kids are handling it quite well. Lincoln's main concern was that we wouldn't be here with all of the family when he turned 8 and was baptized. We agreed that we could probably work it out with a nice bishop in Choctaw to have his baptism while we are here for the holidays. Jackson wasn't keen on leaving Oklahoma at all at first, but has warmed up to the idea. He likes looking at the houses with me and has had a few lemonade stands, "so that we can live in a pretty house."
