What the kids have to say

Some of the things making me laugh lately....

Jackson: "Mom, how 'bout you do this little piggy with stormtroopers and say 'this little stormtrooper had a carrot, this little stormtrooper had none, this little stormtrooper had a backpack, this little stormtrooper had a gun."

Me: "Wow, it sure is a stormy day today."
Lincoln: "No, mom, it is a GLAD day because I get to go to school."

Jackson: "How 'bout we call the baby popcorn shirt?"

Lincoln: "Mom, I don't want the bad guys to get you so hold this (a plastic octopus) and if they try to get you it will IMMOBILIZE them."
Me: "Do you know what immobilize means?
Lincoln: "no"

Jackson: During sacrament meeting he caught a snippet of the talk... "we can be turtle families?"
(he heard turtle rather than eternal)

Rowntree Visit

My friend Mimi and her 3 of her 4 kids came to see us this past weekend. It is always such a treat to get to hang out with her. We tried our best to keep the kids happy and occupied by doing lots of fun Oklahoma things. The first day we went to the Omniplex. I am always impressed that there is something new nearly every time I go there these days. The kids had a blast and begged to go there again the next day. Jared, Ayla and Lincoln especially liked riding on the "Mall Cop" segways around a little obstacle course. Lincoln spent over an hour building at the peg wall - always his favorite spot. Jackson has a new love for legos and spent quite a bit of time making little race car legos.

On Saturday we spent our morning at Martin Nature Center. The kids weren't really into the hiking, so we spent most of our time playing near the creek. Everyone was determined to cross the creek without getting wet - we were nearly successful. Wesley had a little bit of trauma getting wet at first and we had a few wet shoes. The kids practice skipping rocks and Ayla took off on an adventure of her own. I gave her permission to explore, but didn't expect her to get so far away from us!

Saturday afternoon we swam at our nearly empty neighborhood pool. I don't know where everyone else was, but we sure enjoyed having the pools to ourselves!

I thought it was neat that the RS lesson on Sunday was about true friends and I had a true friend right there with me to share it with. She and I stayed up late chatting in the evenings and I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep. I'm so grateful to have this friendship in my life and will always treasure our time together.
