The first day of summer I didn't plan on working, but I was quite needed and we didn't get to do any of the summer kick off things that I'd planned. Instead I was answering phone calls, making changes and even running to Kinko's to teach the people there how to do color corrections.
Well, we made up for it today! I sent Harrison to the sitter and the big kids and I had great adventures. We started off watching Krispy Kreme make donuts (they've seen it once before, but it has been so long they thought it was a brand new experience). From there we headed to the downtown library and picked out some books for our summer reading time. (I plan on having reading/school work time every day for at least 1 hour so that they keep up.)
We carried our bags of books through downtown and had an alphabet search walk to the Crystal Bridge. We walked all around the new gardens and fountains there. They are doing a great job of updating! Lincoln requested Indian food for lunch (ok, twist my arm). We had about an hour break at home and then we headed out to an indoor play place with their friends from school (Keegan and Kasden). Their grandmother invited us to join them and we had such a great time. After picking up Harrison, Jackson's car nap and a quick leftovers dinner we had a family bike ride to the neighborhood park. We loved having Dad and Harrison with us to complete our awesome day!
Tomorrow we clean. {evil snicker}
