February Highs and Lows

My pictures came in out of order, but we'll just start with today!  We've had a very cold week with several days of snow.  We've also had a stomach bug make the rounds.  So far dad's the only one who hasn't had it.  Today however, is Saturday and the perfect day to go sledding!  We called some friends early this morning and headed out for some fun.

Our friend's brought their dogs.  They were so sweet and fun.  I might have actually liked them.  Don't tell.

Jackson's friend Aiden joined us.

And Harrison's friend Brooks did too!

Lucky for me, Brooks' mom is my life long friend too!  We've known each other since elementary school, so it was fun to have a morning together!

Earlier in the month we had days that were 80 degrees!  Harrison and I went outside to play and were really enjoying the sunshine.  I told Jackson and Lincoln they should come out too.

Jackson came, but didn't quite fill my expectations.

He brought a pillow and blanket outside and lay on the slide!  Crazy kid.

Harrison was wearing jammies because they were brand new and he couldn't wait to try them on.

Jackson's Birthday

I've always told the kids I would like them to choose an instrument to learn to play.  Jackson has been excited lately to learn the guitar, so he got a guitar and lessons for his birthday.  He has been practicing a lot and has even asked for more frequent lessons.  I hope that he continues to be excited and works hard at this new skill.    

For his party he wanted it to be about art - boy style!  He wanted to shoot paintball guns at a big canvas, but that wasn't practical for us, so we opted for egg shell painting... Jack and I emptied out a bunch of eggs and filled them with paint.  We covered the tops with tissue paper and let the kids go at it!

He did not actually drink this.  Ew.

Harrison requested the same spread at his party - he loved the rainbow of fruit and chips in the middle.  

I printed out a bunch of "how to draw a...." papers and everyone got one of those pencils with all of the colors inside to draw things.  They did a great job!

He wanted cookie cake.  Dad told him they didn't have any to influence his choice.  We had pie.

He talked me into a pinata.  We didn't want to fill it with candy, and thought about what else would fill the thing that would be fun to collect when it fell out... ziploc bags full of cheese puffs.  Yum.

What a fun party!  Did I mention that we scheduled it for President's Day?  We made invitations and passed them out before we realized that no one in the family would be off of work/school that day - must be a Yukon thing!  We missed having our cousins around!
