Spring!

March has brought an early spring. It has been in the upper 70’s all week and the kids love being outside again. Everyone I talk to reminds me that this has not been a normal Wisconsin winter, but no one seems to be too upset about it! Our daffodils and tulips are out and my favorite pink magnolia trees are showing off this week. I have been thinking how much I will miss being with the Poyner cousins for Easter (my favorite holiday I think!). I was planning a big Easter party to drown my sorrows, then decided to throw a quick St. Patrick's Day party together as I was so anxious to have a party! We had lots of families over for a backyard movie and game night. What fun! The dad's all helped Jeff put the net onto the trampoline and I loved that everyone was wearing green (except my own big boys who couldn't bother with that).

The Big Boys

Lincoln and Jackson are working hard at building little hide outs for themselves in the tree lines. They love doing things as a family, especially when we take family bike rides and have time at the park. Jackson has been flying a new kite and decided he would create his own kite as well. I was impressed with his fancy string holder.

A few days ago Lincoln asked me if I could call my boss and tell him that I had to clean all day and then play with him instead. I had to laugh that he figured out "calling in sick" all on his own. Then this morning he said that he wished it were Friday afternoon because that meant it would be time for us to be together for the weekend. I'm so glad that they love being with family and get along well. There are definitely fights, but they never last long and are soon forgotten.

Our Little Guy

Harrison is crazy about his tricycle right now. He can't use the pedals yet, but for some reason pushing yourself around on a tricycle is so much more awesome than walking (which is faster). He keeps sneaking outside every chance he can find so that he can ride. Jeff took him down the street to a neighbors house once and he thinks he can do that any time he feels like visiting with their dog. He can put a helmet on by himself, so he must be ready to head down the street by himself too, right?
He is my first boy who cares what he is wearing. I can convince him to wear anything blue because it is "cookie monster color." Otherwise, it has to have a monkey, dog, frog, or something that goes vroom to be acceptable. Today he was determined to wear my pink slippers instead of his own shoes and wouldn't get in the car unless he could wear them.
He has been using lots of new words (hooray!) like:
up, down, stop, Bobo (Elmo), help, no, peek-boo, hide, bum, nose, eye, toe, + others that aren't coming to mind right now. He finally named his blanket. He calls is "huh" - like the letter H. I haven't figured why.
