Let's Make This Work For Everyone

On Saturday we joined the family for a birthday party for cousin Isaac. Jackson was enamored with the awesome army toolbelt that Isaac received as a gift. Isaac was kind enough to let him wear it toward the end of the party and he quickly became obsessed. Admittedly, there was also no nap that day. All we heard about the rest of the day was how much he needed that belt. I suggested that we make a chart and he could work on earning it. Waiting was out of the question. He needed it now and there would be incessant whining until it magically appeared around his waist. We told him that it wasn't going to work that way. The whining continued... well into the night.

The next morning a little reminder whine showed it's ugly face again. I returned the favor with a chart reminder. "I NO WANT A CHART."

About a half hour later Jackson softly said, "mom, I ready to make one chart." I excitedly asked him if he had changed his attitude. He agreed that he had and ran off to his dad and exclaimed, "I change my attitude dad!"

We haven't had a poop accident since.
