What's up with us

Now that Mother's Day Out has REALLY started.... and they actually let Jackson come in when I show up there, I was driving along thinking to myself "I bet this empty time [this time that I have SO MANY plans for] is going to get filled up somehow by life. Well, that very day I was called into the bishop's office and called into the RS presidency. Well, that should keep me busy! Plenty of other life things are keeping me running as well.

We've had lots of kitchen issues. One day I came home from the gym and smelled birthday candles. A lid had fallen in and melted itself all the way around one of the heating elements in the dishwasher. It took a few days to get that off of there. At the same time we [that means Jeff] have been working on repairing a leak from the disposal. As a result, we [again, Jeff] also had to replace the wood below the sink. Next thing you know, the fridge stops working. Turns out it was hit by lightning and all of the electrical components needed replacing. We are STILL wondering where one of the parts (which we paid overnight shipping for) is. A few days later, Jeff has the fridge working (minus the one fan part - so we have an outside unit constantly blowing) so we begin to cook again - only to find that some tiny brown bugs have multiplied and replenished the pantry. Right now the pantry contents that were not affected are covering any counter space that once was.

This picture was taken one afternoon last week when I was signed up to feed the missionaries. I had to time my grocery trip just right because I didn't have a fridge to keep things cool, but still wanted to make (or at least heat) a meal. Jackson got sleepy on the way to the store. He was still awake (barely) when we were going in and I asked him if he would rather just go home and take a nap. He said, "no, I just ride in cart." He crawled in and slept like that the entire trip. I made it a quick one, poor little guy.

Amid the kitchen craziness we have brought it upon ourselves to install a new bathtub. I was really worried about not having a good tub to soak my big pregnant self in and Jeff was kind enough to take on this giant project for me. We hired a guy to come and do all of the plumbing and framework. He has been here working on that so it is installed now and operational, but not too pretty yet. I will attempt to do the tiling and finish work on the walls myself. When you ask? Yeah, I'm asking that too.

We also started doing a little mom-taught preschool. My friend Kim and I are doing it together, using a lot of the materials from the program I was working on last year (and hope to continue working on). I am hoping that it will be good for the boys and that it will keep me motivated with my curriculum. I had the boys today and really enjoyed it. Their favorite part was making a lever with a spoon, some plasti-tak and a little ball. They had a great time launching that ball all over the living room. Our letter today was B, so I tried to center everything around that and we sounded all of our activities out emphasizing the 'buh.' Apparently bouncing, biking, etc. were not that effective... I asked Nathan what he was going to tell his mom about what he learned today and his response was "alligator." That was LAST WEEK buddy!

I had another good laugh this afternoon with Lincoln. He reported that he had a really big 'ear whack.' Hilarious! Apparently, if you only have a singular wax, it must be a whack.

My dad and uncle also drove out this weekend to pick up my grandparents in Indianapolis. They have been here the past few days and I've enjoyed spending some time with them. They left this morning to drive down to see my brother and then a little further on to see Dick and Ray. I've also been squeezing in a lot of doctor's visits (just regular stuff) and two days of volunteer work at Lincoln's school.
